The Children's Healing Project

This drama program is integrated into the Lucile Packard Children's Hospital, working with the Lucile Packard School, The Adolescent Unit for eating disorders, and The Siblings Program for families of severely compromised neurology patients.

For 32 weeks per year, two Teaching Artists work one afternoon each week and one night a month in the Adolescent Unit with patients with eating disorders. They also work for a full day each week in the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital on the Stanford campus, both in classroom and bedside.

The Teaching Artists use a wide array of drama improvisation activities in order to aid patients' healing. Through these games they encourage patients to use their imaginations, express their feelings, laugh with each other, and work in a group.
