Why TheatreWorks
TheatreWorks is one of America’s outstanding professional theatres, an artistic community dedicated to diversity, integrity, and excellence. We employ some 300 artists annually, including Equity and non-Equity actors, directors, designers, and specialty artists.
Our acclaimed productions of plays and full-scale musicals include original new works developed at TheatreWorks … frequent regional and west coast premieres of important modern and contemporary works from Broadway, off-Broadway, and beyond … and distinctive re-imaginings of the classics.
Drawn from Silicon Valley and the greater San Francisco Bay Area, our audiences including a large base of subscribers and a wide range of donors and corporate sponsors are loyal, supportive, and enthusiastic. We are widely recognized for our educational and community programs, which reach thousands of students, teachers, and adult learners in seven counties.
We mount our shows in two venues, both offering the full range of amenities for performers and production staff as well as patrons. We maintain large, comfortable rehearsal spaces and have fully equipped costume and scene shops on premises with our administrative offices, staffed by more than 50 professionals, plus numerous interns and volunteers.
TheatreWorks strives to offer competitive wages for all artistic and production positions. We employ both Equity and non-Equity artists under LORT B, C, and experimental contracts. We also secure housing for visiting artists.
Our internships and volunteer programs give students and community members an inside look at the world of the theatre as they work side by side with actors, designers, administrators, technicians, and other professionals.
