Dramaturgical Research Internship

At TheatreWorks, the rehearsal process for each production is supported by providing a research binder made available to all cast, crew, and staff working on the production. Dramaturgical research interns work closely with the company’s resident dramaturg in creating this binder which provides background information on all aspects of the play: history, geography, glossary of terms and definitions, and social and cultural issues of the time, as well as any show specific information that is necessary. As the intern’s work quality and speed is evaluated through the early part of the internship, independent project assignments may be available. Recommended for students with a strong interest in research and history.

Wednesday Workdays/Special Events

One day each week, interns from all departments come together to support general company operations. On Wednesdays, interns assist in the warehouse in costume rentals or props, or in other labor-intensive projects. Cleaning and organizing rehearsal halls or distributing marketing materials to retail stores are examples of other possible Wednesday Workday projects. In addition, interns are expected to work on large company special events such Opening Night Receptions, the annual Season Announcement, or large patron fundraisers.
