Volunteer at TheatreWorks
TheatreWorks volunteers help us in a variety of ways, from hospitality to administration, operations, and marketing. There are sure to be opportunities for you to contribute your talent according to how you want to help and when you’re available.

Volunteer activities fall into three main categories:
- TheatreWorkers is a volunteer organization that supports TheatreWorks through special events, fundraising, and other activities on an occasional basis. Our costume rental program, opening night receptions, general auditions, and marketing/administrative support are just some of the areas where TheatreWorkers play an active role.
- Resident Volunteers help out at our offices weekdays on a consistent weekly or monthly schedule. They are truly an invaluable resource to the company and receive “insider perks” for their dedicated service.
- Ushers and concessions volunteers are active evenings and weekends. They present our "public face" to everyone attending TheatreWorks shows at the Lucie Stern Center in Palo Alto. (The Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts has its own usher program.)
Benefits of Volunteering
Resident Volunteers and TheatreWorkers who contribute a minimum of 25 hours per year may attend the final dress rehearsal for every TheatreWorks production. They receive advance email notification of publicly advertised discounts and special events, and they attend an annual "Thank You" party held in their honor. Those who usher and volunteer at concessions get to see that evening’s show for free.
How It Works
We have a constant, wide-ranging, ever-changing flow of volunteer opportunities. We notify our active volunteers by email as these opportunities arise. You can choose to participate according to your interest and availability.
